LubricantWhat are Lubes?
Lubes are products that are used to decrease friction during intercourse by creating a slippery environment. They can be used during any type of intercouse be it vaginal, anal, or for masturbation. In fact, there is usually a lube designed for whatever kind of play you are looking to get into.
Lubricants come in various brands, colors and types (silicone, water based, gel etc)
With Lubricants there are a few things that as a female you need to be aware of;
1.) Beware of products with a high consistency of glycerin (if its one of the first 3 ingredients, watch out.)
For those females out there who are prone to yeast infections, glycerine is a ingredient that you want to steer clear of. Why you ask, well...when the body breaks down glycerin it turns into a sugar, yeast thrives in a sugary environment. By using a Lubricant that is high in glycerine you are just asking for another trip to the pharmacy for your favourite yeast infection treatment.
Another thing to keep in mind when it comes to a glycerin is that as it is exposed to air it oxidizes very quickly (breaks down) This oxidization creates a very sticky, goopey, or thick substance that leaves you having to reapply often. Product developers and companies are smart, if they know the product gets sticky fast, causing you to have to re apply more often, you will also go through the product faster...leaving you to shop more. For them its all about the money, not the quality. Again, I suggest you watch for products that have a high consistency of glycerin and steer clear.
2.) You might want to pick out a Lube specificially for the type of play you are looking to get into.
For Vaginal intercourse; stick with a water-based, low glycerin content lubricant like System Jo H20, System Jo Womens LIne or OMy Natural.
For Anal intercourse; stick with silicone (unless your using a silicone anal toy), it doesnt get sticky or tacky, maintains its consistency and wont burn or cause any friction, also it provides the best surface for easy insertion. I suggest that when it comes to anal intercourse you stay away from warming or numbing products as they can make the experience less enjoyable. The best ones are System Jo Silicone and Wet Platinum Silicone.
For Oral to Vaginal; again stay clear of any products that contain glycerin or sugars.
For Oral to Penis; pretty much anything is good for use except silicone.
